Awutu-Winton school

At NooKo, we’re proud to support the EDP Trust and its mission to provide life-changing education at Awutu-Winton School in Ghana. Our recent efforts have brought together hands-on work, community partnerships, and innovative collaborations to make a meaningful impact. Here’s what we’ve been up to.

Bringing Solar Power to Awutu-Winton

In November, Max, Adam from Francis-Louis, and the team from Potentia Engineering travelled to Ghana to install solar panels at the Awutu-Winton School. These panels now provide a reliable and sustainable energy source, reducing costs and enabling the school to direct more resources toward education.

The installation was celebrated with a lively commissioning ceremony, bringing together students, teachers, and the local community. This milestone reflects not just the success of the solar project, but also the vibrant spirit of collaboration that powers it.

The trip also included attending a cricket match at the school, part of EDP’s efforts to expand sports opportunities for students. Cricket has quickly become a cherished addition to the school’s programs, teaching teamwork, boosting confidence, and bringing smiles to the faces of students and staff alike.

Fundraising and Partnerships at Breach Farm Brewery

Back in the UK, NooKo was proud to join the EDP Trust for a fundraising event at Breach Farm Brewery in Andover. This event highlighted not just the school’s ongoing initiatives, but also a meaningful partnership with Trashy Bags Africa, a Ghanaian social enterprise that creates eco-friendly products from discarded materials like water sachets and rejected fabric.

The fundraiser also raised awareness and funds for two key projects at Awutu-Winton: introducing cricket to the local community and building a much-needed music centre for the school. It was inspiring to see so many familiar faces, partners, and community leaders come together to support these efforts.

Collaboration at the Heart of Success

None of this would have been possible without the incredible support of our partners. A huge thank you to Francis-Louis, Potentia Engineering, and Dainton Storage for their contributions to the solar project, and to Breach Farm Brewery and Trashy Bags Africa for helping make the Andover fundraiser a success. It’s partnerships like these that remind us of the power of working together toward a common goal.

Looking Ahead

As we reflect on these recent efforts, we’re reminded of the impact we can achieve when collaborating with like-minded individuals and organisations. NooKo remains committed to supporting the EDP Trust, both through funding and hands-on involvement, as we work together to create opportunities and transform lives.

To everyone who has supported us on this journey: thank you. Together, we’re not just restoring buildings or installing solar panels – we’re building brighter futures, one step at a time.

For just £25 a month, you can sponsor a child at Awutu Winton School, helping to meet their educational needs and making a lasting impact. The goal of EDP is to secure sponsorship for most of the 500 students – You can sign up via their justgiving.com for £300 annually or £25 a month, and you’ll be paired with a student who will send you updates on their progress twice a year through EDP UK. Your support can transform a life! This is a fantastic way of supporting the educational needs of the pupils at Awutu Winton School.
